Fondazione Casa Stradivari
Nestled in the heart of Cremona, a city renowned worldwide for its historic violin-making tradition, stands Casa Stradivari, the former home of Antonio Stradivari, the most celebrated luthier of all time.
It was here that, from 1667 – the year of his marriage to Francesca Ferraboschi – until 1680, Stradivari lived and worked, creating numerous musical instruments that are still considered masterpieces of craftsmanship and acoustic excellence.
Recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Cremonese art of violin making finds in Casa Stradivari a place of knowledge transmission.
This unique location is not only a historical residence, but also a vibrant center of creation, education, and contemporary experimentation.
Today, the Casa Stradivari Foundation is committed to restoring this extraordinary place to the city and to the world, transforming it into a hub of cultural excellence and innovation. Its mission is to bridge tradition and modernity, offering young talents – both musicians and luthiers – a fertile environment for artistic growth, exchange, and research.
The project is structured according to the layout of Casa Stradivari: on the ground floor, the lutherie masterclass takes place; on the first floor, the music masterclass; and the Artist in Residence on the second floor, periodically engaging with the musicians on the first floor and exchanging ideas with the luthiers of the ground floor.
