Casa Stradivari, once the home and laboratory of the renowned luthier Antonio Stradivari, comes back to life thanks to the commitment of the Casa Stradivari Foundation.
Inspired by the 300-year journey of the violin The Angel, created by Stradivari in 1720, the Foundation has restored the house which is serving as a center for the protection and transmission of Cremonese violin-making knowledge, recognized as an intangible heritage by UNESCO in 2012.
How our story begins
It is thanks to the vision of violinist Fabrizio von Arx and the journey he organized to celebrate the tricentennial of the violin he currently plays, the Stradivari “The Angel” - ex Madrileno 1720, that the Nuptial House, where the great luthier lived and opened his first workshop, has reopened and rediscovered its artistic vocation.
In 2020, to mark the three centuries of life of this extraordinary violin from the Golden Period, von Arx embarked on a journey from Geneva to Cremona, divided into seven stages. These stages became opportunities for encounters and celebrations of music alongside musicians and artists of all kinds.
His arrival at the Nuptial House at 57 Corso Garibaldi inspired the creation of a unique artistic project unlike any other in the world.
Following a major restoration, on July 4, 2023, exactly 356 years after hosting Antonio Stradivari and Francesca Ferraboschi, the house reopened to the public. Its spaces are now dedicated to the transmission of musical and lutherie knowledge, continuing the legacy initiated by Stradivari himself.
