From 10 to 15 November 2025, the Casa Stradivari Foundation welcomes the renowned cellist Jean-Guihen Queyrasfor an artistic residency dedicated to the cello and to Cremona’s great violin-making tradition.

Among the most acclaimed performers on the international scene, Queyras will bring to Cremona the magnificent Stradivari “Kaiser” cello (1707): a historic instrument that will return to the city where it was built, to be heard, studied and celebrated.

During the residency, the Maestro will hold an intensive masterclass with eleven young cellists from his class at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, offering participants an artistic experience immersed in the unique context of Casa Stradivari, where craftsmanship, music and interpretative research meet every day.

The study days will take place from 10 to 15 November in the Foundation’s spaces and will culminate in two free public events at Sala Maffei (Via Lanaioli 7), organised with the patronage of the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona–Mantua–Pavia: the Open Masterclass and the final concert Good Cellas.

The first event, on 12 November (10:00–12:00 and 15:00–17:00), will allow the public to observe Queyras working with his students up close, experiencing a unique moment of listening and discovery. Moreover, the community of luthiers will have the opportunity to admire the Maestro’s cello during the morning of 12 November.

The concluding concert, entitled Good Cellas and scheduled for 14 November at 7:00 p.m., will see the Maestro and his students performing together in a programme dedicated to the cello repertoire, from the masters of the Renaissance to the great composers of the twentieth century.
